How to Share Your Matterport 3D Tour

5 minute read for Realtors

Did you include a Matterport 3D Tour in your photoshoot with us and now you aren’t sure what to do with all the different links, teaser videos, etc. we gave you? Check out this overview so you know the best ways to share your tour with the public.

Sharing Links - What are the difference?

You can share three different versions of the Matterport 3D Tour. We have provided you with the following links;

  1. Branded

    This is the version that you usually share and shows all public details. Public details may include the following depending on what is provided to us:

    • Address of the space

    • Contact’s name

    • Contact’s phone

    • Contact’s email

    • Contact’s website

    • The name of the company representing the space

    This information will appear in the About panel in the top-left corner of the 3D Showcase. The About panel is a great way for the audience to identify the 3D model and reach out to you for more information.

  2. Unbranded

    • Hides the "Presented By" and contact info. All other Public Details, including the Address of this Space, may be visible to anyone with the link.

  3. MLS-Ready

    • Complies with MLS (Multiple Listing Service for residential real estate) rules regarding external links. Presented By, Contact Details, VR, and external links are hidden. All other Public Details, including the Address of this Space, may be visible to anyone with the link. Also removes links in Mattertag™ Posts, and removes VR.

Posting to Zillow and other MLS Sites

While each site has its own guidelines, Matterport recommends using the MLS Compliant version. You can paste the share link (URL) into the "Virtual Tour" field for most sites.

For more questions please contact the website you are trying to post to.

Posting to Social Media

Use one of the three different versions of the sharing links to post to social media. Simply copy and paste the link into your post caption and publish.

Teaser Videos

Teasers are short video clips that Matterport auto-creates to show off the best parts of a Space.

For all social media channels, except Twitter, we recommend using;

  • Long Intro MP4 file = 14 seconds

  • Short Intro MP4 file = 10 seconds

These files are typically 1-2 MB in size with a resolution of 854x480 pixels (480p)

For Twitter, email marketing, and text we recommend using;

  • Short Intro GIF file

This file is typically 4-5 MB in size with a resolution of 320x240 pixels

Embedding on your Blog or Website

Embedding requires some familiarity with HTML code. If you need this code, please request this from us. Most of our clients are able to utilize just the sharing links for their listing needs.

VR Sharing and Social Sharing

If you need this code, please request this from us. Most of our clients are able to utilize just the sharing links for their listing needs.

VR Sharing (Virtual Reality Sharing) is a new feature to the Matterport 3d Tours as of 2020. Visitors are can walk anywhere in the Space, and no longer have to follow the VR Path (the blue spheres). They will still be able to see and navigate to the 360 Views, just like in a normal Showcase. A VR headset is needed for this and Matterport recommends the Oculus Quest. Other headsets may work so long as they are supported by WebXR, but please note Matterport has not formally tested them yet.
